Dr. Suzanne Kearns is a Canadian author, academic, and professor of aviation who works at the University of Waterloo. She is a former airplane and helicopter pilot. Her research specializations are aviation safety, training methodologies, and human factors. She is the author of four aviation books and Series Editor of the ‘Aviation Fundamentals’ textbook series.
Dr. Kearns volunteers as Vice-Chair of the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO’s) Next Generation of Aviation Professionals (NGAP) programme and as Past-President of the University Aviation Association (UAA).
Her most recent textbook ‘Fundamentals of International Aviation’, published March 2018, is already being used by colleges and universities around the world to introduce aviation education to the next generation. She is the co-developer of the ICAO/University of Waterloo e-learning course ‘Fundamentals of the Air Transport System’ (www.icao.int/fats).
