Dr Michael Lim is the Director of the Singapore Aviation Academy (SAA), the training arm of the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore. He is also currently chairing the TRAINAIR PLUS Steering Committee of the TRAINAIR PLUS Programme (TPP).
As a Regional Training Centre of Excellence, SAA offers a wide range of operational and management programmes through its four specialised schools, and has trained over 120,000 aviation professionals from over 200 countries and territories since 1958. Under Dr Lim’s leadership, SAA is also actively collaborating with TPP members, institutes of higher learning and other industry partners through the delivery of joint programmes to uplift the standards of training and competency of aviation personnel worldwide.
Dr Lim brings with him a blend of experiences from the two key ministries in Singapore – Defence and Education, as he has spent more than 23 years in the Defence and Training sectors, followed by another 8 years in the Education Sector. He graduated with a B.A.(Hons) from the University of Cambridge in 1981. He received a Master of Science (Management) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1996), and a Doctor of Education from the University of Leicester (2010).
